It was supposed to be just "a simple job"...

The wood floor downstairs in our church building was rotting and we had two minor accidents with people's chairs breaking through the floor... so, it was obviously time to change out the floor. Since Pablo Pena had some time off work, Manuel and Manuel's dad decided that between the three of them they could get the job done in a couple of days. (I've heard that phrase too many times to count!)

They pulled up the wood floor and the tile in the entrance of the church building, and that is where the problems began. Apparently when our building was built (80 years ago) the workers did not compact the dirt very well before laying the concrete floor. That along with plumbing problems had created a gigantic hole just waiting to be discovered.

Anyway... a week and a half later, and with help from all the men in our church, the floor was finished and we no longer have to worry about falling through the floor during Bible class!

More recent events...

The last week in February, Samira spent a week at our house. The boys loved having someone to play with!

The next week, Manuel and I left the boys with their grandparents and went to the beach for four days!

Basically I ate...

Slept...

and read...

It was wonderful! Manuel did all of the above, plus had fun in the water. I prefer to just admire the COLD water from a distance...

Last Sunday after church, Pablo Vasquez cooked for us...

Yummm...

We headed back up the mountain with a group from church in January... we had a wonderful time of fellowship and fun!

Manuel and I tood Nate to see the movie Tintin... and he then had to start combing his hair up just like Tintin!

Church lunch...

Tio Pedro visiting from Argentina!

A trip to the park...

Celebrating my Mother-in-law's birthday...

Manuel and I teamed up with Pablo and Carol to host a Valentine event for the married couples at church...

Manuel put in two raised beds with the "help" of the boys....

We only have two straw hats so Nate found his own hat...

And a trip to the zoo...

Trip to the Mountain

(As told by Nate Soto and paraphrased by his mother)

One day we packed everything in the car and we drove up the mountain. We swam in the river.

Daddy played in the waterfalls, but I didn't want to go there.

Lucas fell into the water and Mama had to get him out.

We ate "pan" and "chicken" (actually it was sausage) and salad.

I brought my toy car and Lucas threw it into the river. It floated away. "Lucas, no put it in the river! Lucas is being stinky-funny."

December Greetings!

Merry Christmas from the Soto Family!

We had quite the month... starting with decorating our house and making a Jesse "Tree"...

We had a fun outing to the mall for a ride in the Carousel...

We also went to a Christmas parade with Pablo and Carol and their girls...

Then we had our last tea party for the girls at church. This time the fathers were invited as well...

Reading my last letter to the girls about guarding our hearts...

The parents reading letters to their daughters...

Oh, what a cute couple...

Our traditional Christmas skit...

Christmas morning...

Chirstmas lunch...

Christmas evening we went to Pablo and Carol's house for supper and then out to see the fireworks near their house...
